I hold a B.Tech. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and have been working in the IT industry as a Guidewire developer for the past 6.5 years. With a strong technical background, I am highly skilled in developing and implementing software solutions using the Guidewire platform.

What does a typical day look like for a Senior Software Engineer at ValueMomentum?
As a Senior Software Engineer in ValueMomentum working on a Guidewire-based project, my day is usually filled with a variety of tasks and responsibilities that require my attention and expertise. My role is to lead a team of technical professionals who are responsible for the development and maintenance of the Guidewire PolicyCenter (PC) system.

My day typically begins with a quick review of my schedule and tasks for the day, followed by a team meeting to discuss the progress of ongoing work items and identify any potential issues or roadblocks. I am also responsible for providing guidance and support to my team members, helping them develop their skills and stay up to date with the latest technologies and best practices. This may involve providing training sessions and mentoring junior team members.

Throughout the day, I will also be communicating with various stakeholders, such as project managers, business analysts, and senior executives, to provide updates on the progress of projects and discuss any issues or concerns. As the day draws to a close, I'll be reviewing any outstanding tasks and prioritize them for the next day. I also review industry publications, attend webinars or participate in other professional development activities to stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in the industry.

Tell us about some of your accomplishments in your ValueMomentum journey so far.
In ValueMomentum, I got the opportunity to expand both my technical and professional skills. When I joined the company, I was only well-versed in Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration. But here, I was able to get my hands on Integration and ClaimCenter as well. There is a constant lookout in the firm to make people gain expertise in multiple streams and I made use of this to my advantage.

To make me well-versed in my technical skills, the leadership advised me to get certified in the relevant streams and provided the necessary support. I have now completed my Guidewire Associate certification and I am planning to get other certifications as well. This helps me in not only adding certifications to my portfolio but also using the knowledge in my work and creating value-additions for the benefit of the company.

In your experience, what is the learning and career development environment at ValueMomentum like?
In ValueMomentum, I got to work on various streams of LOBs. This had helped me in developing a holistic view of the insurance domain integrated with the technical approach. As I started to gain more knowledge in a fast-paced manner, I was also able to handle additional responsibilities with confidence. Within a short span of time, I was handling a team of technical professionals by managing their work, tracking their progress and assisting them in their daily tasks.

I’m currently taking a conscious step forward in my career and ValueMomentum has played a huge role in it by providing me the necessary platform. I was able to take on any challenge that I faced due to the confidence I gained through my journey at ValueMomentum.

Which aspect of the ValueMomentum culture do you enjoy the most?
In ValueMomentum, the entire workforce strives to take the firm to the highest standards. Each day I’ve worked here, I’ve felt like taking one step forward, but never backwards. And when everyone expresses the same view, it just makes our time here very enjoyable and at the same time productive.

The leadership constantly strives to give us opportunities to build our career and our seniors are always available to lend a helping hand. Without such camaraderie, I would never have been able to achieve what I have achieved in a very short span of time.

How do you see your career at ValueMomentum progressing?
After joining ValueMomentum, I’ve moved from a place where my usual day would be one filled with just delivering development tasks that were assigned to me to a place where I’ve increased my capabilities to pick up a myriad of other duties with ease. Here, our career goals are set accordingly so that we do not feel burdened when we finally achieve them, but rather relish the experience. I see my career flourishing at ValueMomentum with the already available possibilities and the unseen opportunities that lie ahead.
