For the third year in a row, more than 3,000 talented insurance technology professionals gathered in Bengaluru, India for a deep dive into the evolving capabilities powering property and casualty (P&C) insurance. The ValueMomentum team was excited to join other Guidewire partners and customers in both the Innovator and Explorer edition of the event, participating in hands-on engineering sessions, demos, panel discussions, and more.
More than 110 of our developers participated in sessions spanning leadership, architecture, development, business analysis, and quality engineering. This year’s theme, Building Beyond, highlighted the real-world impact insurers are driving with Guidewire and provided hands-on experiences for the developers, business analysts, and QAs empowering that impact.

AI-Enabled Infrastructure Is Here
The sessions at this year’s summit demonstrated how insurance platforms are becoming increasingly AI-driven, cloud-native, and experience-centric. It was no surprise that AI was a defining theme, and Guidewire is investing in strategically embedding AI across the insurance value chain.
Discussions across all functions highlighted that AI has evolved from experimental to an instrumental part of business transformation. This came through in several examples, such as the introduction of AI in the software development life cycle, agentic AI framework for intelligent, autonomous workflows, use cases across underwriting, policy and claims, and a growing number of AI initiatives moving from proof of concept to production at scale.
ValueMomentum’s Chief Technology Officer Pankaj Kumar spoke on a panel discussion focused on the future of AI in the software development life cycle. He emphasized how critical it is for AI investments to be clearly aligned with measurable business outcomes, and how establishing scalable adoption frameworks can accelerate the transition from experimentation to production-ready initiatives.
5 Major Themes From DEVSummit 2026
As AI moves from differentiator to a table-stakes capability, insurers are rethinking how they leverage their core systems. While the four days were packed with inspiring, educational sessions, five major themes particularly stood out to our team:
1. Cloud-Native Ecosystems
The future of P&C core systems is cloud-native. Insurers should continue investing in their transition to cloud platforms to keep pace with the industry. Cloud-native ecosystems provide a faster runway to take ideas into production at scale while maintaining strong governance and security. Agentic AI will soon have an even bigger role in helping these ecosystems deliver operational efficiency and tangible business benefits for P&C insurers.
2. AI-Assisted Development Practices
Insurers and their partners must continuously educate themselves on the latest AI-assisted development practices to fully realize the benefits of cloud-native ecosystems.
Advanced practices showcased at DEVSummit highlighted how developers can leverage metadata-driven, configuration-first low-code capabilities using Guidewire products such as Autopilot Workflow Service, Rules Service, Functions, and the Agentic Framework. Together, these capabilities can help teams increase the scale and quality of their output while reducing the time and resources required.
3. Modular Platforms
Guidewire InsuranceSuite is becoming more modular, and the solution provider is focusing on continuously improving upgrade safety and developer efficiency. Leveraging standardized, upgrade-safe engineering models can help insurers innovate faster while reducing operational complexity. A cornerstone of this shift is Guidewire’s Extension Layer for managed, packaged, and upgradeable extensions. By shifting customizations to a structured extension model, insurers can reduce traditional merge complexity during upgrades and place greater emphasis on metadata-driven, configuration-first development.
Reusable engineering patterns and a Marketplace-driven distribution model are also poised to play a larger role, making it easier to share, adopt, and scale best-practice components across organizations and implementation teams.
4. Secure Engineering
As engineering practices evolve, so must the measures that keep development secure. Secure development practices emerged as a key theme this year, especially as Guidewire moves toward AI-ready, cloud-first architectures.
Speakers reaffirmed that security must function as a foundational capability embedded directly into engineering workflows, rather than as a downstream validation step. Going forward, it will be even more important for engineering teams to prioritize secure coding practices, static application security testing (SAST), and DevSecOps controls within their CI/CD pipelines. controls within their CI/CD pipelines.
5. Better Developer Experience
All of these themes culminated in a fifth: improving the developer experience. Automation, abstraction, and AI enablement are working together to help developers work more efficiently and at scale, while spending less time on repetitive tasks and manual checks. The convergence of AI-assisted engineering, metadata-driven design, and low-code capabilities is creating faster, more scalable delivery models and strengthening collaboration between business and engineering teams.
Enhancements to Guidewire Jutro Digital Platform and Jutro Studio, along with the near-real-time feedback loops they enable help to drive these improvements. A better developer experience ultimately translates into a faster delivery of new capabilities and better experiences for policyholders, agents, and employees.
Bringing These Themes to Life
The hands-on experiences, discussions, and insights our team gained from this year’s DEVSummit were invaluable to our ongoing work helping insurers grow and modernize on Guidewire platforms. Organizations across the ecosystem will see the best results by embedding intelligence at their core, building cloud-native ecosystems that can scale, and integrating security directly into their engineering workflows. As AI, modular architectures, and secure engineering practices continue to advance, the insurers that embrace these themes will be best positioned to build beyond what their core platforms do today.
