Business Situation
The carrier, a leading mid-western regional life insurer planned for a 7 year ‘Greenfield’ approach utilizing rules engine, BPM, and SOA to create reusable services for future products.
They wanted to be at the forefront of introducing innovative products and provide ’jet issue’ capabilities online.
The business leaders had the vision of implementing ‘instant issue’ capability that allows customers to obtain products after answering relevant questions.
Challenge
The carrier wanted to revitalize their entire IT infrastructure using SOA principles and platforms in a 7 year endeavor.
They had an interim business need where they desired instant quoting as a reusable service that can be leveraged by various product groups and by multiple applications for use by agents to provide product quotes and by CSRs for customer service.
Solution
ValueMomentum was responsible for endto-end implementation of this project. We partnered with the customer to leverage our decision services development expertise to realize a forward looking architecture which would serve as a foundation for future IT initiatives.

ValueMomentum assisted the customer in leveraging ILOG JRules to serve as the underlying inference-based rules engine.
